Pray

Oh Jesus,
You have loved me with such a great love that you gave us the

the sacred gift of the Holy Eucharist.
Be with me and move my heart with joy as I prepare to receive You for the
first time.
Oh Jesus,
strengthen my faith,
grow my love,
bless me with your graces,
and increase my devotion so that I may be worthy to receive You.
Amen.

Praise

Did you know that when we sing at Mass, we are praying twice to God?!

Listen and sing along with Miss Kristen as she teaches us the importance of joining together in song when we come together as God's family at church.

Reflect

Making your First Communion can seem like a big, new, and overwhelming experience.
But there's no need to worry because making your First Communion is all about growing in your friendship with Jesus.

Watch this video to hear the advice from some of our parish children who have been where you are now in preparing for the communion. You can also spend some time discussing and reflecting on the questions below.

Thanks

When we receive Jesus in the Eucharist, our bodies and souls are fed with the blessings of God. It is a time of great joy where we give thanks to God for the love He gives to us in His Son.

In celebration of that joy, put the following ingredients together and discuss how they help us to celebrate our faith. Be sure to enjoy this special treat and share it with those whom you love.

Communion Snack Mix

  • Pretzels ... to represent our praying hands

  • Cheerios ... to represent God's love that has no beginning or end

  • M&Ms ... to represent all of the different things made by God, the creator

  • Goldfish ... to represent that we are disciples who follow Christ, the Savior

  • Raisins ... to remind us that the fruit of the Spirit is love

  • Chocolate Chips ... to remind us of the many sweet blessings from God above

One tradition that we are fond of in getting ready for First Communion is getting to make the souvenir banner. This special symbol helps us to remember the day and to celebrate the signs and symbols of our faith.

Using the banner kit you picked up from the parish, you will get to create your special keepsake together at home.

 Feel free to get creative!

Most of the cutouts are supplied in the kit for you, but you may choose to arrange them in any way you'd like or add other elements if you want. We only ask that the banners keep to the theme of celebrating First Communion.

Hot glue, fabric glue, or stitches can be used to securely place the pieces onto your banner.

Please return your completed banner back to the Faith Formation office by April 28!
