God's Grace in Difficulty

St Michael Prayer

​

Practice this prayer together, asking for God's protection through the intercession of St Michael the Archangel.

​

St Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the Devil. 
 

May God rebuke him, we humbly pray, and do thou, O Prince of the heavenly hosts, by the power of God, thrust into hell Satan,  and all the evil spirits, 
who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls.

 

Amen.

Based on the Gospel readings for the first two Sundays of Lent, the "Read This" looks at two main themes - our wounds and our fears - how we can meet God's Grace in both.

Read Matthew 4:1-11. Then journal on the following questions:

  • In what ways did the devil try to tempt Jesus? What did he offer Him?

  • What did Jesus do that gave Him the strength to resist the devil?

  • What do you desire (hunger) for your life?

  • What are things that are obstacles (temptations) that keep you from it?

  • Would you agree that your friends struggle with stress, fear, or anxiety? What may be some stresses or fears (darkness) that you may have?

  • What do you need to work on (repentance) to become who God calls us to be?

Venerable Carlo Acutis

​

When you are done, click below to learn about Venerable Carlo Acutis as an example of using Grace, even in Middle School. Born in 1991, Carlo lived in Italy. He owned a playstation, liked pokemon, and learned to build his own website. He also had a great love for the Eucharist. He died in 2004 from leukemia. He was 13.

 

A miracle has just been confirmed by the Vatican, and he will be declared a Blessed this year - one step away from becoming a Saint.
