Christmas is often called "the most wonderful time of the year", and it certainly is an important part of our faith as we recall the birth of our Savior. That is why the Church gives us Advent to help us best appreciate it. However, Advent is often overlooked in the hustle and bustle of Christmas. Watch the video by clicking below, as Fr Schmitz explains what this season is all about.

The Incarnation, when the Word of God became flesh, is a central belief in our faith. When we celebrate Christmas, we are celebrating the coming of God's Word, the Second Person of the Trinity. This "Read This" helps us prepare for Christmas by looking at why Jesus came at all.

Take a sheet of paper and make 3 columns.

- In Column 1, write down things you will start doing to draw closer to to Christ this Advent.

- In Column 2, write down things that keep you from God that you can stop doing or avoid this Advent.

- In Column 3, write down people who need a prayer. Add to it throughout the month.

Work on your lists through Advent. Encourage and hold each other accountable to make this Advent different.
