Being Transformed - Part 1

The Serenity Prayer

God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change.
Courage to change the things I can,

and the wisdom to know the difference.

Amen.

In order to be forever changed by God's love, we have to be strong and brave in the face of all that is unknown.

This short and fun family devotional will help you speak to your children about the ways in which they can be courageous in their faith and trust that God is always there.

Change can be scary for children to understand or experience. Change, even in themselves, can spark fears of the uncertain for children.

Lysa TerKeurst's book It Will Be Okay: Trusting God Through Fear and Change is a great resource to read with your child(ren) to help them "discover that no matter how new or fearful their circumstances, God is always with them."

God changes us and uses us each day of our lives through the people we encounter and our interactions. This is just like when your child plays with playdoh; they mold, shape, and reshape the simple clay with each experience.

Using playdoh or clay, spend time with each member of your family making an object that represents how God shaped them that day. Maybe your daughter will make a heart because she had a kind moment with friends, or your son will make a smiley face because God brought him some cheer when he was sad. Shape your playdoh and discuss how God transformed you.
